VICE PRESIDENT REITERATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S COMMITTMENT TO ERADICATE POLIO

Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment towards the eradication of polio in the country by working with relevant stakeholders to reach vulnerable children in hard-to-reach areas.

The Vice President gave this assurance yesterday in Abuja when he received representative members of the Global Policy Group of the World Health Organisation (WHO) led by the Director-General, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus.

Professor Osinbajo, who also said the focus of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration was on Universal Health Coverage, urged the WHO to make Nigeria one of its priority nations.

The WHO had earlier stated that Nigeria had become a critical partner on the global stage because as it drives health policy on the continent through the promotion of Universal Health Coverage.
