PRESIDENT BUHARI COMMISSIONS 50 BILLION NAIRA SUGAR PROJECT IN NIGER STATE

President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned the Sunti Golden Sugar Estates in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State with a promise to revive the moribund Bacita Sugar Company in Kwara State.

The Sugar Estates was built at the cost of 50 billion naira with a capacity to produce 100, 000 metric tonnes of sugar annually.

President Buhari noted that the company has the capacity of providing 10,000 direct jobs, including 3,000 small-scale out growers of sugarcane.

Meanwhile, Niger State Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello said the project is one of the successes of the diversification initiative of the federal government.
