The League Management Company has stood by its words to begin the 2018/19 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday after it released the fixtures for the first matchday yesterday.
The abridged season of the NPFL is expected to hold between January and May with 24 teams in two groups.
Following the conclusion of the group phase of the NNL Super 8 Play-offs, four teams – Insurance of Benin, Remo Stars, Kada City Stars and Gombe United – gained promotion to the NPFL.

Fans of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan have decried the failure of their team to clinch a spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League for next season.

The Oluyole Warriors finished third in their group after accumulating three points from three matches – losing to Remo
Stars and Insurance of Benin in the Southern Conference of the Nigeria National League Super 8 Play-offs.
The fans, who expressed their sadness on social media platforms, said the club needed to work harder to return to the
Nigerian topflight.
