INEC VOWS TO PROCEED WITH ELECTIONS DESPITE ATTACKS ON OFFICES

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it would press ahead with preparations for this Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections despite recent incidences of attacks on two of its offices.

National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC Festus Okoye disclosed this yesterday in Abuja.

Okoye disclosed that the fire incident that occurred at the Qua’an Pan Local Government office of the Commission in Plateau State on Saturday 9th February 2019 is the second of such incidents in less than a week.

The Commission also said it has notified the Acting Inspector General of Police of the trend coming close to the conduct of the elections especially at a time where the Commission is engaged in the massive movement of election-related materials nationwide.
