8 Injured as another building collapses in Ibadan

A two-storey building under construction located along Eleyele road in Jericho area of Ibadan on Tuesday collapsed in Ibadan at about 4pm, injuring eight persons.

One of the bricklayers at the site, Kazeem Adebayo, said concrete casting on a portion of the building had started when it gave way.
Adebayo said that a portion of the building began to give way around 3.30 pm and the attention of the site engineer was drawn to the development.

An official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dada Abimbola, disclosed to journalists around that nobody died in the incident while the injured persons had been taken to Jericho Specialist Hospital for treatment.

A representative of the Architect Registration Council of Nigeria, Olatunji Bolu, said the body would investigate the cause of the incident while the outcome would be made public in due time.
